Inspiration

In AICE Media Studies, I watched many different film openings. I was able to observe many different styles of introduction, and come to conclusions about what style would be best for me. Despite the fact that I am creating the first two minutes of a drama, the opening that ended up speaking to me the most was none other than Napolean Dynamite.

Even though my full movie would look nothing like Napolean Dynamite, I found myself inspired by the use of first person POV and high angles to portray meaning. Within the first few minutes of the movie, director Jared Hess was able to convey so much about the characters and the setting without the use of dialogue. I have some ideas for how I'd like to use these techniques within my own movie opening that I hope I'll be able to implement.
